八邑会馆与义安官司 结束产权纷争 THE TEOCHEW POIT IP HUAY KUAN AND NGEE ANN KONGSI ENTERS AMICABLE GLOBAL SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT RELATING TO TEOCHEW BUILDING AT 97 TANK ROAD
Dear Members of the Teochew Poit Ip Huay Kuan,
I believe everyone has learnt from the reports in the local media that yesterday (7 Dec) , under the witness of Minister Edwin Tong, we have officially entered into an amicable global settlement agreement with Ngee Ann Kongsi to end the dispute relating to the Teochew Building at 97 Tank Road.
We are grateful to Minister Edwin Tong and Minister Ong Ye Kung for their invaluable advice, as well as the support of Lawyer Ellen Lee. Special thanks also go to the litigation committee of the huay kuan: Adviser and Lifetime Honorary President Mr George Quek, Immediate Pat President Mr Chan Kian Kuan, Deputy President Mr Woo Chee Chay and our former Honorary Secretary, Mr Toh Lim Mok for their hard work, cooperation and endurance in charting the way forward to unify the Teochew and Chinese communities.
We also express gratitude to our Legal Advisor, Senior Counsel Mr Tan Chee Meng, and the legal team of Wong Partnership for their dedication and efforts. Thanks to all members of the THK’s Board of Directors, including the lifetime Honorary President, Honorary Presidents, Honorary and Honorable Directors, and Directors, as well as members of the Local & International Affairs (LIA) Committee, the Youth Committee and all members for their trust, contributions in funds and efforts and unwavering support.
Moving forward, we will uphold our original intentions, promote friendship, and continue to organise various activities to inherit Teochew culture, traditions, and values. We look forward to establishing a new cooperative relationship with Ngee Ann Kongsi. We will engage in charitable activities, uphold traditional virtues, promote cultural and educational events, and contribute to the development and progress of Singapore.
