潮社与尚达曼交流会 In Conversation with Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam
有意竞选新届总统的前国务资政尚达曼先生与夫人珍一藤木于2023年在8月12日走访潮州八邑会馆，和本地潮社代表举行交流会。出席的120代表包括八邑会馆吴木興会长、郭明忠顾问兼永远名誉会长、八邑名誉会长、董事、会员、以及南洋普宁会馆、新加坡揭阳会馆、澄海会馆与天猛公艺术基金会会长及代表等。
尚达曼先生分享他对于新加坡的愿景与展望，也从社团角色、青年议题、社会凝聚力、国家储备金与休闲生活等，和出席者亲切交流。期间也与夫人不时以潮语与群众互动，气氛融洽。
Former Senior Minister Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a potential candidate for the Presidential Election, visited the Teochew Pot Ip Huay Kuan and held a conversation with the Teochew community on August 12, 2023. He was accompanied by his wife, Jane Yumiko Ittogi. They were warmly received by President Derek Goh, Board of Directors, Advisor and Lifetime Honorary President Mr George Quek together with about 120 members and guests including Presidents and members of the Nanyang Pho Leng Hui Kuan , Singapore Kityang Huay Kwan, Theng Hai Huay Kuan, and Temenggong Artists-in-Residence. Mr. Tharman shared his vision and aspirations for Singapore, and touched on a wide spectrum of topics including clans’ roles, youth issues, social cohesion, national reserves, and leisure activities during the conversation session. At times, Mr and Mrs Tharman also used the Teochew dialect to interact with the audience. Here’s wishing Mr Tharman all the best in his endeavours.
